Meditation is commonly described as mental attention training that awakens us beyond the conditioned mind and habitual thinking, understood as Natural Presence.
It is an ancient practice that allows you to master the mind and at the same time achieve a state of full consciousness. Or put another way, it is a technique that reduces stress and increases general well-being. The exact historical origin of meditation is not known, but it is believed that it emerged more than 5,000 years ago in India, within the ascetic movement that we know as yoga.
Until the 1970s, meditation was always linked to the religious level, but as a result of the research work of doctors, psychiatrists and psychologists, it also began to be introduced into medicine. Its results are very positive in the treatment of patients suffering from stress, anxiety or depression. It is a discipline, far from any religious connection, that is based on the scientific method, that is, on systematic observation, measurement and experimentation. This new vision of meditation has facilitated greater understanding by Western minds.
In this course you will see various types of strategies or techniques that create an atmosphere conducive to deepening mindfulness. We will learn 10 ancient meditation techniques from Tibetan Buddhism, Jainism, Thai Buddhism, Hinduism.
